WORDS OF WELCOME/ENTER THE LIGHT OF CHRIST (You may light a candle at home if you wish)

GATHERING WORDS/CALL TO WORSHIP (If you are worshipping with others, you may use two or more voices in a “Call to Worship” style at home).

As storms rage and fires burn,

You, O God are our refuge and our strength.

As waters rise and lives are changed in an instant,

You, O God are our refuge and our strength.

You, O God, are our help and our hope in times of trouble.

In times when we are afraid, we will trust in You.

OPENING PRAYER     Holy God, come to us now in this hour of worship. Be present in our singing, in our praising, in our praying and in our lives. Hear the cries of our hearts and speak to our souls. Give us your strength so that we may live all the days of our lives in steadfast faith and hope. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

AN OFFERING OF MUSIC                 Where I Belong                                     ~ Elbert Maddox

Proclaiming and Responding to God’s Word

THE SCRIPTURE READING                Acts 2: 42-47

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

The Word of God for the people of God.    Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF DISCIPLESHIP

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.
