HYMN OF PRAISE And Are We Yet Alive? #554
OPENING PRAYER Most Gracious Lord, even when our days are uncertain and filled with trouble, You call us to worship You, to offer unto You our thanksgiving and praise. As we turn our hearts toward you this day, help us to trust in your wisdom. Show us your ways, Lord, and teach us your paths. Guide us in your truth and teach us. For You, O Lord, are our Savior and our God. Each and every day, our hope is in You. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ~ from Psalm 25: 4-5
BLESSING OF TITHES and OFFERINGS Giving God, you call us to do your work in the world and you bless us with the means to do it. Through these gifts, may our hearts and hands join with others around the world so that your kingdom may come and your will be done. Amen.
Proclaiming and Responding to God’s Word
OLD TESTAMENT LESSON Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
NEW TESTAMENT LESSON James 4: 13-17
13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. 17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
The Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF DISCIPLESHIP
THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
HYMN OF DISCIPLESHIP ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus #462
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. All God’s people said, Amen.
