                                                         Gathering for Worship

WORDS OF WELCOME/ENTER THE LIGHT OF CHRIST (You may light a candle at home if you wish)

GATHERING WORDS (If you are worshipping with others, you may use two or more voices in a “Call to Worship” style at home).

Those who trust in the Lord cannot be moved, but abide forever.

Our help is in the Name of the Lord, the One who made heaven and earth.

Our God who knows us and loves us invites us to worship.

We gather to sing God’s praise and to celebrate the Lord’s goodness to us.

HYMN OF PRAISE                           Near to the Heart of God                                           #472

OPENING PRAYER     Almighty God, to You all hearts are open, all desires are known and from You no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify your Holy Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BLESSING OF GOD’s TITHES and OUR OFFERINGS

All-knowing and gracious God, we are truly blessed by your great goodness to us and your never-ending love for us. We thank you for the privilege of showing our gratitude and love to You through giving, not only with the giving of these gifts, but by giving our very lives and all that we are to You. Bless us and these gifts, and use both them and us to do your work in our world. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Proclaiming and Responding to God’s Word

FIRST LESSON                              Hebrew 4: 13-16

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

SECOND LESSON                         Romans 8:26-27; 34

26 The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes[a] with sighs too deep for words. 27 And God,[b] who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit[c] intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

The Word of God for the people of God.      Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF DISCIPLESHIP           My Wordless Prayer                              ~ Courtney/Martin

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

HYMN OF DISCIPLESHIP             My Faith Looks Up to Thee                                         #452

BLESSING

We go forth as God’s beloved children, knowing that we never walk alone, but that we live each day in God’s presence. By God’s grace, may God’s Kingdom come and God’s will be done on earth, in and through us. In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. All God’s people said, Amen.
