EMMANUEL’S NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
*Thanks to everyone that has donated a Cleaning Kit/Flood Bucket, or has made a donation in response to UMCOR’s urgent call for help. Your gifts will support the clean-up efforts taking place in many storm-damaged areas in the U.S. Our Cleaning Kits will be presented and blessed next Saturday, November 5, at our Conference Palooza. If you still wish to make a contribution, please place your marked gift in the offering plate, or in the UMCOR buckets located in the Sanctuary by TODAY! Thanks for your generosity.
*HALLEBOOJAH! Join us tomorrow evening, October 31, from 5-7 for our annual Halloween-on-the-Lawn event to be held on Monday, October 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. (Set-up begins at 4:00 p.m.) The Vitality Team invites the congregation to dress up in your Halloween best and join us on the lawn for the festivities. Please bring your own lawn chair. Hot chocolate and treat bags will be distributed to our community trick-or-treaters. Thanks to everyone who donated candy for this event. Use the orange insert in today’s bulletin to invite your friends and neighbors to join us.
*Next Sunday, November 6, is All Saints’ Sunday when our church family will remember the members of our congregation and the loved ones of our church family that have passed away since last All Saints’ Sunday (November 7, 2021). We hope you will join us for this sacred time of remembrance. If you have a loved one that you would like to include in this observance, please call or send an email to the church office (434-946-7624; office@emmanuelamherst.org) no later than Wednesday, November 2. You may also share the information on the back of your blue “connect with us” form available in the worship bulletin.
*The chancel choir invites all interested singers to participate in this year’s Christmas Cantata to be presented in worship on Sunday, December 18. Cantata rehearsal takes place each Wednesday during the second half of choir practice from 7:30-8:00 p.m. Join us!
*Memorial Bricks: Our church provides a way for families to honor and remember loved ones by placing a memorial brick in our church’s Memorial Rose Garden. If you wish to order a memorial brick, please contact the church office to receive a form via mail or email. Order forms are also available at the Sanctuary entrances. Bricks can be ordered at any time, but the company requires a total of 5 to place an order at the reduced rate. Because the roses in our rose garden are not thriving at the present time, we have suspended all new orders for Memorial Rose Bushes until further notice.
*Mountain View District Palooza: (Charge Conferences for all churches in the MV District, and District Conference), Saturday, November 5, 9:30 a.m. at Heritage UMC in Lynchburg. Lay delegates to the Annual Conference and District Conference, and church team leaders/committee chairs are expected to attend this meeting. Other church members and friends of the congregation are welcome to attend as well.
* On Sunday, November 13, the worship team looks forward to honoring our Veterans! We will provide a breakfast for our Veterans and their families at 8:30 a.m. in the Social Hall, and all veterans present will be honored in the morning worship service. Please RSVP for the breakfast by contacting the church office (434-946-7624, office@emmanuelamherst.com) or by using the back of your blue connection form no later than Wednesday, November 9. Please use the insert in today’s bulletin to invite a veteran that you know to join us!
