EMMANUEL’S NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Today’s Communion Offering is designated for the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund to help us meet emergency family needs for the Amherst Community as they arise. Your generosity is appreciated.

*The Prayer Shawl Ministry group will resume meeting on this Tuesday, November 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Youth Room upstairs (the room with the couches). We plan to continue meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Bring your knitting needles and crochet hooks and yarn. Anyone who loves to crochet and/or knit is welcome to join us. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Janie Stinnett (946-9061; vtgolfmom@comcast.net) or Pearl Clark (946-7085; pearlhclark31@gmail.com).

*Come and Sing in the Christmas Cantata! The chancel choir invites all interested singers to participate in this year’s Christmas Cantata to be presented in worship on Sunday, December 18. Cantata rehearsal will take place each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room, followed by regular choir practice.

*Memorial Bricks: Our church provides a way for families to honor and remember loved ones by placing a memorial brick in our church’s Memorial Rose Garden. If you wish to order a memorial brick, please contact the church office to receive a form via mail or email. Order forms are also available at the Sanctuary entrances. Bricks can be ordered at any time, but the company requires a total of 5 to place an order at the reduced rate. Because the roses in our rose garden are not thriving at the present time, we have suspended all new orders for Memorial Rose Bushes until further notice.

*On Sunday, November 13, the worship team looks forward to honoring our Veterans! We will provide a breakfast for our Veterans and their families at 8:30 a.m. in the Social Hall, and all veterans present will be honored in the morning worship service. Please RSVP for the breakfast by contacting the church office (434-946-7624, office@emmanuelamherst.com) or by using the back of your blue connection form no later than Wednesday, November 9. Please use the insert in today’s bulletin to invite a veteran that you know to join us!

*“Bags of Thanks” November Food Drive: During the month of November, the congregation is invited to participate in a “Bags of Thanks” food drive to help us restock our church Food Pantry with needed items. Today as you leave worship, paper bags with a shopping list inside are available at the back of the Sanctuary. You may fill your bag with some of the items on the list and return it to the Narthex tub, the wire baskets in the Social Hall, or on the pew downstairs in the Food Pantry room by Sunday, November 20, the Sunday before Thanksgiving. On that Sunday, we will bless these food offerings and give thanks to God for blessing others through our gifts. Thank you for considering this mission opportunity.
