EMMANUEL’S NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

*The Chancel Choir and Worship Team would like to present the Living Last Supper as an evening worship service for our church and community on Maundy Thursday, April 6, provided we can secure enough men to play the necessary parts. Rehearsal is minimal and memorization of the brief monologue is not required. If you are willing and able to participate in this meaningful service during Holy Week, please contact Sue Lamm (aelcdirector@gmail.com; 434-444-7775) or Pastor Nancy (ncolemanjohnson@gmail.com; 434-401-5776). Thanks to those who have already volunteered! Any willing singers in the congregation are invited to join the choir to sing for this worship event. Please join us on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the choir room to participate.

*The Women’s Bible Study ~ Our first gathering for 2023 will take place this Tuesday, February 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the Mattie Ware Classroom. We welcome others to join us!

*The Prayer Shawl Ministry Group ~ Our next gathering is scheduled for this Tuesday, February 14 at 1:00 p.m. We welcome anyone who is interested to please join us!

*The Worship Team will meet on Sunday, February 19 following worship in the Youth Room.

*Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22. Please join us for our Community Ash Wednesday Observance at Hardees (Ambriar Shopping Center) from 7:00-9:30 a.m. The gathering includes a time of prayer and the imposition of ashes done in small groups throughout the time period. Come and bring a neighbor or friend with you. A traditional Ash Wednesday Service will take place in our Sanctuary that evening from 6:00-6:45 p.m. The earlier time gives those who have 7:00 p.m. commitments at church the opportunity to attend.

*Church Family Christmas Cards/2023 Church Offering Envelopes: All remaining cards and envelopes have been moved to the youth room.

Community, Conference and District News…

*Habitat for Humanity welcomes volunteers to assist with their new construction across the street from our church. If you wish to volunteer, please email Robert Habel at habelrf@gmail.com to be added to the email list. Robert sends out a volunteer email every Sunday evening about the work for the upcoming week.

*Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in the Town of Amherst is having a Spaghetti Dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 17th. Tickets cost $10/adult and $3/children under 12. Profits support local organizations and charities, including Habitat for Humanity.

*On Saturday, March 4, 2023, the Amherst Women’s Club and Sweet Briar College are sponsoring Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma, a walk/run to help fight this often life-threatening inflammatory disease that impacts more than 300,000 people in the US, including our own Cat Brandell. The event will take place at the SBC Fitness and Athletic Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. If you would like to register to participate in this event, or donate to help the effort, please contact Margaret Ann White or Cat Brandell.  They will be available after worship today in the front of the Sanctuary.
