EMMANUEL’S NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS for Nov. 12
*Mountain View District Conference Palooza was held yesterday in Martinsville. Thanks to all those
who helped prepare our annual reports for Charge Conference. A special thanks to Mike Stinnett, who served as
our Lay Representative at the Conference.
*The congregation is invited to participate in our annual “Bags of Thanks” food drive to help us
restock our church food pantry. Grocery bags with the list of needed items are available at the back of the
Sanctuary for you to pick up today after worship. Please return your bag to the Narthex tub or to the food pantry
downstairs by Sunday, November 19 when we will offer a prayer of blessing over these gifts.
*“Food Lion Feeds”: Do you shop at Food Lion in Amherst? If so, you have an opportunity to support
the work of Amherst Cares by purchasing the prepackaged food boxes that are available at the checkout lanes.
The boxes purchased at our Amherst Food Lion are set aside for Amherst Cares to pick up and distribute to our
Amherst Cares families. (Boxes purchased at other area Food Lion stores go to other local agencies). Thank
you for considering this opportunity.
*Our Thanksgiving Food Box Ministry will take place on Monday, November 20 at 8:30 a.m. in the
Social Hall. Please contact Mike Stinnett if you have questions.
*News from the Fundraising Team: Christmas is just around the corner, and we still have few of the
Cat’s Meow figurines of our church, and quite a few of the Amherst Traffic Circle Ornaments (Patriotic design)
that we sold a few years back to benefit our Capital Improvement Fund. These items are $20 each and are available
in the church office or by contacting Cat Brandell at catbrandell@gmail.com or 434-946-9102.
*Float for the Amherst Town Christmas Parade, Friday, December 1: Are you interested in helping
with an EUMC float for this year’s parade? If so, please contact Jeanie Combs (434-907-2487). Whether or not
this is possible depends on the amount of interest we have and the number of persons that are available to help.
*Membership Sunday, December 10: We have several persons who have indicated an interested in
joining our church before the end of the year, so we are planning to receive persons into membership on
Sunday, December 10 during the 10:30 worship service. If you are interested in learning more about church
