EMMANUEL’S NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Thanks to everyone that participated in our annual “Bags of Thanks” food drive to help us restock our church food pantry. We look forward to dedicating these food gifts during worship today.

*“Food Lion Feeds”: Do you shop at Food Lion in Amherst? If so, you have an opportunity to support the work of Amherst Cares by purchasing the prepackaged food boxes that are available at the checkout lanes. The boxes purchased at our Amherst Food Lion are set aside for Amherst Cares to pick up and distribute to our Amherst Cares families. (Boxes purchased at other area Food Lion stores go to other local agencies). Thank you for considering this opportunity.

*Our Thanksgiving Food Box Ministry will take place TOMORROW, November 20 at 8:30 a.m. in the Social Hall. Please contact Mike Stinnett if you have questions.

*News from the Fundraising Team: Christmas is just around the corner, and we still have few of the Cat’s Meow figurines of our church, and quite a few of the Amherst Traffic Circle Ornaments (Patriotic design) that we sold a few years back to benefit our Capital Improvement Fund. These items are $20 each and are available in the church office or by contacting Cat Brandell at catbrandell@gmail.com or 434-946-9102.

*This year’s Stewardship theme is “Giving and Living Our Thanks.” Each Sunday throughout the month of November, we have been exploring together in worship what the Bible teaches us about stewardship, and how to apply those truths to our daily lives. Annual Stewardship Packets were mailed out to the church family toward the end of last week, so everyone should receive theirs by early this coming week. Stewardship Commitment Sunday is next Sunday, November 26. Please take time during the coming week to read through the letter and card, and prayerfully consider your commitments to God through our church in the giving of your time, talent and treasure, trusting our Lord to provide. Next week in worship, we will have the opportunity to present our Faith Promise Cards through the offering. Next Sunday is also Christ the King Sunday, when we celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ as King of all creation, and King of our lives as Christ-followers. Your cards may also be returned to the church office, in person or by mail, by Friday, December 15.

*Float for the Amherst Town Christmas Parade, Friday, December 1: Are you interested in helping with an EUMC float for this year’s parade? If so, please contact Jeanie Combs (434-907-2487). Whether or not this is possible depends on the amount of interest we have and the number of persons that are available to help.

*Membership Sunday, December 10: We have several persons who have indicated an interested in joining our church before the end of the year, so we are planning to receive persons into membership on Sunday, December 10 during the 10:30 worship service. If you are interested in learning more about church membership, are interested in uniting with Emmanuel, or if you would like to know more about becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ, please contact Pastor Nancy who welcomes the opportunity to meet with you. We look forward to welcoming new members into our family of faith!
